Practical info
Bubble soccer is ideally played with 6 to 10 participants at a time. This way, there can also be sufficient alternation and rest. For large groups, we can also expand to multiple playing fields. Read more about it in our blog post on bumper ball or get inspired.
Suitable for ages 10 a 12 and up. A basic level of fitness and a healthy portion of daring are recommended – you are safe in your bubble, but it is an active sport! We have one size but because of the straps inside, this can be adjusted according to the size of the player.
A standard session takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on group size and your enthusiasm :-). When you rent the bumper balls, we are very flexible. Pick-up the day before and return the day after is certainly possible, at no extra cost.
In the formula with guidance, our experienced supervisors ensure a smooth and safe gaming experience. The intermediate formula where we provide the equipment is also often chosen.
Count on about 20 minutes of set-up and the same amount of take-down when renting 10 bumper balls. Upon reservation, we provide clear instructions and telephone helpline.
Good question!
The bare minimum is 20 by 10 meters. This is sufficient for a small group of 6 to 8 players. For more comfort and fun, however, we recommend a larger area. More space means more momentum, more spectacular collisions and more fun. Artificial turf or natural grass are ideal in terms of surface.
Bubble soccer is a physically intensive sport. Therefore, we recommend providing 1 ball per two participants. This way the activity is not done right away and you can also support on the sidelines.
The total rental time at bubble soccer basically comes down to 24h but we are flexible! If we bring the balls on Friday night and get them back during Sunday this is ok!
No worries! We will provide all necessary explanations at pick-up and answer any questions you might have regarding the setup of a game of bubble soccer. Be sure to check out our blog post on bumper ball rentals for more practical info on this.
This will always be done in consultation with the person in charge of your chosen pickup point. We will contact you after booking and make sure we find a time that suits both parties!
Transportation can be done in a normal passenger car if you flatten the back seat and empty the trunk. Only from 12 balls and more please inquire with us to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Bumper ball, also known as bubble soccer or bubble ball, is a hilarious variation on soccer in which players sit in large inflatable balls. The transparent bumper ball covers your entire upper body – from your knees to above your head – and you are strapped in with shoulder straps so the ball moves with you. The game principle is similar to soccer (two teams, one ball, goals) but with one big difference: colliding is not only allowed, it’s half the fun! You run at opponents, knock them over, roll across the field together, and in the meantime try to score anyway. The balls completely protect, so you can go wild without hurting yourself. The result: a mix of sports, chaos and uncontrolled laughter. Don’t worry if you’re not athletic – bumper ball is more about fun than soccer skills!
Yes, bumper ball is very safe when used correctly! The inflatable balls are specifically designed to absorb all impact – it feels like you are inside a large airbag. Your head and upper body are completely protected by the thick layer of air. The worst that can happen is that you get knocked over and roll around, but that’s just the fun part! Our bumper balls meet European safety standards (CE certified) and are regularly inspected. When renting, we always give extensive safety instructions with them: don’t headbutt (you bump your shoulders), don’t jump on people who are already lying down, and stop when tired. For guided activities, our instructor supervises and intervenes in case of too wild behavior. The minimum age of 12 and minimum height of 1.40m guarantee that the balls will fit properly. In 10+ years of bumper ball, we have had hardly any accidents – at most some bruises from bumping too enthusiastically!
Bumper ball is available in two formulas. Rental (organize yourself) costs about €12 per person calculated at one ball per two participants (yes, bubble soccer is physically intensive). For this you get enough bumper balls, a pump to inflate the balls, clear instructions and rules of the game included, and pick-up/return to one of our locations (Bruges, Kortrijk, Sint-Niklaas, Antwerp, Ghent, Mechelen, Brussels, Turnhout, Genk and Sint-Truiden). Transport to your location is possible for +€1 / kilometer driven from Zwijndrecht. Guidance (we come on site) costs €25 per person including professional instructor guiding the activity, game explanation and referee, multiple game variants (not only soccer), breakdown and setup. For groups 30+, we can combine with other activities for a good mix. Rental is popular with youth groups and bachelorette parties with limited budgets. Supervision is ideal for companies who want to take the hassle out of playing and have maximum fun.
A bumper ball session typically takes 1.5 hours total. This breaks down as follows: Explanation & warm-up (10-15 min) – instructions, safety rules, getting into the balls and getting used to the feel. First round of play (20 min) – teams play first matches, everyone gets used to bumper ball dynamics. Short break (5-10 min) – drink water, recover for a while (it’s more intense than it looks!). Second round of play (20 min) – now that everyone gets the hang of it, it becomes more competitive and fun. Game variations (15-20 min) – e.g. “last man standing”, “skipper may I sail”, or creative variations. Final (15-20 min) – decisive game or tournament conclusion. You can also keep it shorter (1 hour express variation) or spread it out longer (2.5 hours with more breaks and variations). Our experience: after 1.5 hours, people have played nice and tired and the energy has been optimal. Longer can lead to fatigue – bumper ball is really intense physically!
Bumper ball is surprisingly versatile in terms of surfaces! Ideal is a grass field – soft when dropped, good grip, and authentic soccer atmosphere. Artificial turf works great and is often best because it is always dry and flat (no potholes or mud like natural grass after rain). Indoor sports halls with wood or plastic flooring are perfect for winter months or in bad weather – a little harder when falling but the balls protect well. What doesn’t work: Concrete, asphalt or crushed stone are really too hard and can damage the balls – we do not allow this due to safety and wear and tear. Sand (like a beach) seems nice but is very heavy to run in with the balls. The playing field must be reasonably level – a slight slope is still possible, but no large potholes or obstacles. Size requirement: at least 10 by 20 meters for a full-sized field, but smaller is also possible for compact play.
Absolutely! In fact, indoor bumper ball is very popular, especially during the winter months (November to March). It works great in gymnasiums, large sheds or warehouses, indoor sports complexes, or even large event venues with enough space. Advantages of indoor: always playable (weather independent), flat and clean surface, and often better lighting for photos/videos. Disadvantages: slightly harder when dropped (but the balls compensate well) and more limited sense of space than outdoors. Minimum space requirement indoor is 15 by 25 meters – slightly smaller than outdoor can be because there is no wind or other weather factors. Ceiling must be at least 4 meters high (the balls are about 1.5 meters high and people sometimes jump). Many schools book bumper ball in their gym for school fields days, and businesses use their corporate hall. Caution: no breakables around – bumper ball can roll uncontrollably!
